OCD is an Anxiety Disorder.

Obsessive thoughts, compulsive actions and intrusive disturbing thought are driven by some underlying anxiety.  OCD  is driven by anxiety and is a direct function of it.

Getting Panic Attacks is not very nice, you have a racing heartbeat, sweaty palms, maybe you feel dizzy and so on.  Extreme discomfort seems to be the order of the day.

However, when you had this very unpleasant experience and despite its duration no harm came to you, did it?

Panic attacks are nothing more than an extreme manifestation of high anxiety.  You are causing this panic attack due to a maladjusted anxiety level.  You are not ill-neither physically nor mentally.

Anxiety is just another sensation like feeling happy or an aching belly through laughing.  Once you take that on board it does not seem so bad does it?

The anxiety levels in the body are set by a small pair of organs in the brain called the Amygdala, these two organs are almond nut sized and sit near the base of the brain.  If the Amygdala gets set at too high a level then you will feel anxious for no real or apparent reason, this is of course illogical but can bring on other sensations of continuously feeling unwell etc.  If the durati0n of the anxiety attack is long it can have a debilitating effect on your well being.

The Amygdala in this case needs resetting to a lower level and then the anxiety will go away, some people are cured almost immediately, others it can take a little longer.
